Our history

About us

We are in Gragnanino di Gragnano Trebbiense, in the province of Piacenza. Here, stands Lattegra, a dairy company founded and still controlled by the Fugazza family, which began its business of processing milk into Grana Padano in 1944. At that time, the dairy produced 4 wheels per day with milk derived exclusively from its own cowshed.

The story of Lattegra is the story of a passion that has been passed down for generations. This also shines through in the multiple certifications obtained over the years that symbolize and underscore the commitment to ensuring a top-quality finished product that supports the environment. In fact, the gradual growth of the business has led to an investment program aimed not only at expanding the facility but also at continuous research to increase quality and safety. The certifications obtained by Lattegra (environment, energy management, traceability of the food supply chain, product carbon footprint, occupational health and safety, BRC, IFS) show a responsible, high-level approach to production.

The continuous search for quality and efficiency has led the company to the application of an integrated quality system that covers both the hygienic-sanitary aspect and the traceability of the product that goes from the field, to the milk collection, to the subsequent processing into Grana Padano PDO.

The production of Grana Padano today is around 170,000 wheels a year and is done by flanking strictly traditional processing with the support of technological plants that make it possible to optimize quality and have a consistent product.
In short, tradition and technology, both aiming to quality.

The cowshed, owned by the Fugazza family and located right in front of the dairy, is home to about 1,300 dairy cows, fed through corn, alfalfa and permanent grassland, which bring 2300 hectoliters of milk to the dairy every day, along with milk collected from local stables in the Piacenza, Pavia and Lodi areas, to be processed into Grana Padano PDO.
